For this weeks blog I will focus on a current environmental campaign which is using social media to promote their ideas and charity. CharityWater is a non-profit organization that brings clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. It was founded in 2006 and it has helped people in over 20 countries, which has benefited over 2 million individuals.
The organization relies on social media networks to improve and grow their non-profit organization. All proceeds they take in and generate go towards their water projects. The most interesting thing about this foundation is that they are able to fund their activities through private donors who invest into their work because they truly believe in their mission. By using the different social media outlets, they are able to promote their ideas across the world, which leads to a growth in their charity. CharityWater has over 200k followers on Instagram, which only benefits their campaign. As I was looking through their pictures through the years, the images they post are both inspiring and bring hope to the foundation. This image displays the story that this campaign is portraying: the simplicity of water and the joy that comes with it for these children.
