Blue Mountain State is an old television show about an elite college football program, where the players are your stereotypical college athletes. This show portrays the football team as steroid abusing, beer drinking womanizers, who live to party and be drunk. The entire show is satirical and does not take itself serious at all. Because of this the show also happens to contain many inappropriate ideas such as racism, sexism, and other raunchy crude humor.
The character I would like to focus on for this blog is named: Thad Castle the team captain and linebacker for the team.

Thad Castle and the entire Blue Mountain State cast is full of diversity within because of the different races within the team. Although it portrays a diverse football team, it does not reflect positive racial and gender ideas. For example: Thad is the stereotypical white male football star. He acts very arrogant about his football skills and does not put any effort in his education. He also plays the part of the typical meathead, who is simply all muscle and no brains. Thad will make racist remarks towards his own teammates and stereotype all of the girls within the show.I believe that it is very important to portray positive racial ideas because the modern era of sports is full of diversity.

There are many stereotypes present in the show. The one that comes up most often within the show is the portrayal of women and how men treat them. The entire football team has no respect for the woman in the show and simply see them as sex objects. The words and demeanor they have when talking about the female gender is very inappropriate and paints a negative image of young women in college.
